Introducing Dr. Michelle Litzinger of Lakewood

My Chiropractic Journey

Dr. Michelle Litzinger

I was born and raised in Lakewood, CA where I attended Lakewood High School and graduated with high honors. I received a basketball scholarship to Cal State Dominguez Hills where I studied exercise physiology. I turned my focus on my studies after a torn MCL ended what I hoped to be a career in basketball. It was always my dream to work in a field where I could not only impact the lives of others, but help people reach their optimal health. I started classes with the intent to be a Physical Therapist, but when physical therapy could not relieve severe back spasm and neck pain I was having, it was obvious that I needed to go down another path. With research and some guidance by several chiropractors, I decided to study the art, philosophy, and science of chiropractic.

Chiropractic Education

I enrolled at Cleveland Chiropractic College and graduated Magna Cum Lauda with a Doctorate of Chiropractic in 2007. While attending CCCLA I was President of the Waiting List Practice Club, Secretary of the Student Body, member of the Student Hearing Board and Sports Council club, and Dean’s List all 3 years. I was also a trainer for the Long Beach Lions semi-pro football team.

Professional Experience

In March 2009 I opened up a wellness office in Redondo Beach alongside my former classmate and friend. While living and working in Redondo Beach I was part of the Redondo Beach Membership Committee, Ambassador for the Redondo Beach Young Professionals, and volunteered for the Manhattan Beach Woman in Business. Having a background in sports, I sponsored the Beach Cities cycling club and Mira Costa volleyball and basketball programs. In my free time I trained with the Leukemia Lymphoma Team in Training and ran the LA marathon as well as the Big Bear marathon in 2009.

The first time I had the opportunity to meet Dr. Jeff and his wife Sandy, was when I offered my services after hearing the news of his illness. They welcomed me into their office and I started treating patients part time in December 2009 while maintaining my practice in Redondo Beach. I fell in love with the patients, atmosphere, and the warmth of the Lakewood community, and decided to step out of the Redondo Beach office in order to treat in Lakewood full time.

After the passing of Dr. Jeff Haygood I purchased the practice and will continue on the great name that he spent 30 years building. I look forward to meeting you all and seeing how chiropractic can change your life. Call our office today to schedule an appointment.

Dr. Litzinger Asks some important questions of interest to Lakewood residents - Chiropractor Lakewood Dr. Litzinger Asks...

What's the difference between sick care and health care?
Sick care is largely about relieving or suppressing symptoms. Health care is about improving performance. While sick care is about how you feel, health care is about how you function. Sick care is what you do to treat an obvious problem, and health care is what you do to avoid the problem and advance your well-being.
What happens if you stop chiropractic care when you feel better?
Many Lakewood folks recognize that this predisposes you to a relapse. Chiropractors know that muscles and ligaments supporting the spine don't fully heal until after symptoms subside.
